Pastures and/or hay fields are important parts of many farms.  The Community Farm of Simsbury has 21 acres of certified organic hay fields.  Join UConn's Dairy and Livestock Extension Educator Rich Meinert  and NRCS's District Conservationist James Hyde for a learning, walk through the farm's fields to evaluate them for their hay potential and hear suggested management strategies for improved quality and production.
Joe Bonelli, UConn Extension, will be on on hand to discuss Crop Insurance. Michael Keilty will also be there to talk about the SARE Natural Meat project.

Please dress for walking through the fields.  The workshop is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about pasture management.

Registration is $10 for CT NOFA members and $15 for non-members. Attendance is limited, so please preregister by calling the office at 203-888-5146 or online here.

This workshop is supported by a Specialty Crop Grant from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture focusing on Winter Food.
