Beyond Pesticides “seeks safe air, water, land and food for ourselves and future generations”. How do they do this? In a number of ways:
- Providing useful information on pesticides and alternatives to their use
- Identifying the risks of conventional pest management practices (namely pesticides) and promoting non-chemical and least toxic management alternatives
- Bringing the issue of pesticides to a policy forum in Washington, D.C.
- Distributing a wide variety of materials, including a periodical, ongoing series, and a national conference.
Their site lists 17 issues relating to pesticide use, including Children and Schools, Invasive Weed Management, West Nile Mosquito Management, Genetic Engineering and Healthy Hospitals. They have a wonderful list of “how-to” factsheets, a list of national and international organizations that work on pesticide-related issues (broken down by each state), and many, many resources including the following PDF on health and environmental effects caused by active ingredients in pesticides.
Beyond Pesticides recently released a Youtube channel with presentations from this year’s National Pesticide Forum. Topics include: Organic Land Management, Genetically Engineered Food, Organic: United We Stand, Pesticides 101, Protecting Pollinators from Pesticides and more!
