Community Health Center Starts Garden to Save Lives

Please take a few minutes and watch this video from the Fair Haven Community Health Center, which was recently posted on their blog.

The Fair Haven Community Health Center has served the greater Fair Haven community in New Haven for over 40 years.  Recently, the Center established a community garden through the Diabetes Prevention Program with the help of Chabaso Bakery.  The garden has five main aims:
  • Enhance the weekly nutritional content of participants’ diets.
  • Provide additional opportunity for physical activity.
  • Create community among participants.
  • Expand participants’ knowledge and commitment to healthy foods.
  • Increase awareness and interest in FHCHC’s Diabetes Prevention Program.
It is amazing to see so many people come together through different outlets to achieve the same goal.  Thank you for sharing how an organic lifestyle can truly save a life!
