September 28 - The goal of the Connecticut Food System Alliance was to gather a diverse mix of experience stakeholders dedicated to positive change to Connecticut’s local food system for an open discussion focused on key barriers and innovative strategies, with an emphasis on areas of reform with broad potential impact. This group came together to celebrate exceptional work, generate new ideas, and make connections for a lasting affect.
Topics for breakout sessions included Nurturing Farmers, Institutional and Retail Distribution, Affordability/Accessibility, and Group Sustainability and Continuity.
Speakers included John Turenne (Sustainable Food Systems), Annie Farrell (Millstone Farm), Nicole Berube (CitySeed), Arthur Lerner (F.R.E.S.H. New London) Jiff Martin (American Farmland Trust), Cristina Sandolo (Wholesome Wave Foundation) and Bill Duesing (CT NOFA). Wow, what a group!
Here are the notes from those sessions.
