CT NOFA and the Natural Resources Conservation Service are proud to present the 2010 5th Annual Community Farming Conference on Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 8:30-4:00 at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven.
This annual conference brings together many of the community farmers throughout the state of Connecticut, including those interested in starting out!
Come learn what it takes to successfully run a community farm, with topics including: "Having a Good Board and Leadership"; Cultivating Connections: Engaging Youth with the Food System"; "Connecting with Farmland"; "Local ≠ Safe, Why Even Small, Local Farms Need to Pay Attention to Food Safety"; a Farmer Panel; and a tour of Massaro Farm in Woodbridge! There will also be time for networking, including a potluck lunch so be sure to bring a dish to share with others!
Registration is $30 for CT NOFA members, $40 for non-members. A special price of $20 for the first person to sign up from each community farm in Connecticut is also available. Be sure to let the office know your farm when you sign up, so you can get your discount. We want to reach out to as many of the community farms in the state as possible!
